Description

You will manage fiber optic installation, termination, and testing within a data center environment. You own the physical infrastructure layer, ensuring network integrity through precise cabling and rigorous testing protocols.

Responsibilities

• Install and mount racks, patch panels, hardware, and grounding systems.
• Terminate simplex and duplex jumper cords, outside plant fiber, and indoor tight-buffered multi-mode and single-mode fiber.
• Perform mechanical and fusion splicing, including building entrance, maintenance space, and direct buried splices.
• Execute end-to-end testing and troubleshooting using OTDR, Fluke, and EFXO to identify and correct network-wide issues.
• Maintain accurate documentation for work orders, material transfers, and change orders.

Required Skills

• Hands-on experience with multi-mode (MMF) and single-mode (SMF) fiber systems.
• Proficiency in terminating LC, SC, ST, FC, FDDI, SMA, and MP0/MTP connectors.
• Ability to use trade tools including punch tools (110/66 block), tone sets, crimp tools, and Krone/3M/BIX.
• Proficiency in OTDR and PMLS testing and troubleshooting.
• Calculate end-to-end loss budgets following TIA/EIA standards for multi-mode and single-mode fiber.
• Physical ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and lift up to 75 pounds.
• Capability to provide onsite support via an on-call schedule and travel to various sites.
• High School diploma or GED equivalent.

Preferred Skills

• 3-5 years of fiber experience.
• Industry certifications such as Corning, FOA, or BICSI.
