Description

Own the design, migration, and optimization of enterprise database infrastructure on Google Cloud and on-premises environments.

This role is remote.

Responsibilities

• Deploy and manage native Google Cloud services including Cloud SQL, Cloud Spanner, Bigtable, and AlloyDB.
• Execute large-scale, minimal-downtime migrations using DMS, Ora2Pg, or CDC pipelines.
• Diagnose performance bottlenecks by analyzing query execution plans, wait states, and indexing strategies.
• Provision and manage database infrastructure using Terraform and automation scripts in Python, Bash, or Go.
• Design high-availability architectures, including replication, failover mechanisms, and multi-region disaster recovery.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience with RDBMS platforms: PostgreSQL, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL.
• Hands-on engineering experience with Google Cloud Databases (Cloud SQL, Spanner, Bigtable, AlloyDB).
• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
• Scripting skills in Python, Bash, or Go for database automation and monitoring.
• Understanding of JDBC, ODBC, and Hibernate for application-level database connectivity.
• Experience with Java for modifying database connectivity code.
• Knowledge of schema design, concurrency controls, and connection pooling.

Preferred Skills

• Professional Cloud Database Engineer certification.
• Experience migrating from AWS/Azure to Google Cloud.
• Integration of database infrastructure with analytics workflows like Dataflow.
