Description

Design and optimize logical and physical data models for enterprise data warehouses and marts using dimensional modeling and Data Vault techniques within Snowflake.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Develop optimized schemas based on data usage patterns and query requirements to reduce compute costs and improve execution speed.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify key metrics and translate them into data models suitable for Snowflake.
• Define data cleansing and transformation rules to ensure data quality and consistency before loading into Snowflake.
• Analyze query performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize data models and indexing strategies.
• Create detailed data model documentation, data dictionaries, and provide training to data engineers and analysts.

Required Skills

• 10+ years of experience in data warehousing and data modeling, with at least 5 years specifically in Snowflake environments.
• Deep understanding of Snowflake architecture, features, SQL, and data modeling capabilities.
• Extensive experience designing and implementing relational, dimensional, and star schema data models.
• Ability to diagnose bottlenecks and tune SQL queries for performance.
• Proficiency with data modeling tools such as Erwin, ERStudio, or Lucidchart.
• Familiarity with integrating Snowflake with cloud providers like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Strong understanding of data integration principles and data governance practices.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Data Vault techniques for enterprise data warehousing.
• Strong communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams.
