Description
You will own the end-to-end process of data model design, modernization, and migration.
Responsibilities
- Reverse engineer existing OLTP databases to generate conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
- Redesign database schemas applying normalization principles (1NF through BCNF) to eliminate redundancy and improve integrity.
- Develop comprehensive migration strategies, including data transformation logic, for zero or minimal downtime.
- Optimize schema design using indexing, partitioning, and query tuning for AWS Aurora PostgreSQL.
- Define and enforce data governance policies, access controls, and data quality standards across the new architecture.
Required Skills
- 10+ years of hands-on experience in data modeling and database design.
- 5+ years of experience reverse engineering and refactoring large-scale OLTP databases.
- Expert-level understanding of database normalization theory (1NF through 5NF, BCNF).
- Expert-level SQL skills and extensive experience with PostgreSQL.
- Deep expertise in relational database design principles, patterns, and anti-patterns.
- Hands-on experience with AWS Aurora PostgreSQL or similar cloud-based database platforms.
- Strong expertise in data modeling tools such as SqlDBM or ER/Studio.
- Experience with database migration and CI/CD pipeline integration.
- Proficiency with other RDBMS platforms including SQL Server, Oracle, and MySQL.
