(a) data-side analysis - interrogating the comparison results; and
(b) vendor engagement - obtaining inventory files from the carrier, clarifying their column semantics, disputing and driving carrier-side corrections, and tracking SLA.
Both postholders perform the full role. The split below is a division of ownership, not of skill set - each must be able to cover the other during absence.
1- Primary owner of the active wave's carrier relationship and of the equivalence-rule set for that carrier.
- Owns the weekly burn-down pack and the monthly KPI feed submission.
- Runs the onboarding of the next carrier in parallel with the tail of the current wave (file request, column dictionary, mapping draft).
2 - Primary owner of mismatch triage volume: classification, severity assignment, ticket raising, and ageing management.
- Owns the tag-and-locate queue: shortlisting residual unmatched circuits, grouping them by site, and coordinating the Field Ops batches.
- Owns the completeness reporting on LEC carrier and LEC circuit ID fields.
SKILL SET
Essential
Data and tooling
- Advanced Excel - large workbooks, lookups, pivot tables, text normalization functions; comfortable working with 100k+ row extracts.
- Working comfort with CSV/Excel data exchange, encoding and delimiter issues, and with inconsistent or dirty carrier-supplied files.
Domain
- Telecom inventory fundamentals: circuit IDs, circuit types (Ethernet, Private Line, MPLS, DIA, Channelized, SONET), bandwidth notation, A-end / Z-end service addresses, LEC / local-loop concepts and demarc.
Method
- Data quality practice: profiling, rule definition, exception triage, false-positive management, root-cause analysis.
- Exceptional attention to detail and evidential discipline – every correction raised must carry the evidence that justifies it.
- Structured, self-directed working
Vendor and stakeholder
- Vendor / supplier management: chasing deliverables, running working calls with carrier data teams, disputing records with evidence, and tracking commitments to an SLA.
- Clear written English; able to produce a status pack that an executive can read without a walkthrough.
Desirable
- Python with pandas for ad-hoc analysis (production pipeline code is not expected of this role).
- Prior exposure to comparable telecom expense management / inventory platforms.
- Experience of a carrier inventory reconciliation, circuit rationalization or telecom audit programme.
- Familiarity with address standardization and fuzzy-matching techniques.
- Experience operating inside a KPI / scorecard governance framework.
- Basic HTML or dashboard literacy sufficient to sanity-check published output
EXPERIENCE AND BEHAVIOURS
- 3+ years in a data quality, data analyst or telecom inventory role; at least 1 year with vendor-facing responsibility.
