Description

You will manage DB2/zOS environments, handling everything from physical data modeling to production operational support.

This role is remote.

Responsibilities

• Create physical data models optimized for DB2/zOS based on logical models and project requirements.
• Collaborate with Java, .NET, and SQL development teams to design, implement, test, and deploy database changes.
• Perform SQL performance tuning for OLTP and Data Warehouse environments by optimizing queries and configuring parameters.
• Manage database maintenance, monitoring, disaster recovery, and develop backup and archiving solutions.
• Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotational incident response for production database alerts.

Required Skills

• 6+ years of heavy DB2 z/OS database administration and production support experience in an MVS-z/OS environment.
• Technical expertise in DB2 V8 and above.
• Proficiency in SQL, Java, and .NET application environments.
• Deep knowledge of logical and physical DB design, performance monitoring, and tuning.
• Experience with stored procedures (COBOL and Native), triggers, and UDAs.
• Hands-on experience with DB2 Utilities, SPUFI, QMF, OSC, BMC-DB2Mon, and PowerDesigner.
• Knowledge of RMF and use of SMF data.
• Ability to define alert thresholds and perform trend analysis for resource management.
