Description

You will own the design, implementation, and performance of database systems across cloud and on-premises environments.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and manage database systems including AWS Redshift, EMR, IBM Netezza, and GreenPlum.
• Monitor performance metrics, system health, and logging compliance while performing backup, recovery, and troubleshooting.
• Tune data types, distribution, and schema design to optimize SQL performance and resource allocation.
• Develop shell scripts for data loading, unloading, and maintenance tasks.
• Manage data replication, encryption, archiving, and support ad-hoc queries and data access applications.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of general database administration experience.
• 3+ years managing IBM Netezza, Teradata, Pivotal Greenplum, or Actian ParAccel.
• 1+ year managing cloud databases such as AWS Redshift or AWS EMR.
• Strong knowledge of Hadoop ecosystem components: YARN, MapReduce, HDFS, HBase, Zookeeper, Hive.
• Proficiency in writing and analyzing complex SQL queries and interpreting query plans.
• Strong Unix/Linux shell scripting skills.
• Understanding of Data Warehousing MPP architecture, SDLC, and Change Management.
• B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
