Description

You will manage relational database environments across on-premises and public cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability and security.

This role is remote.

Responsibilities

• Manage installation, configuration, patching, migration, and upgrades for MySQL, Oracle, and MS SQL.
• Automate repeatable database tasks using shell scripting, Chef, or Ansible.
• Design and implement backup, recovery, and high-availability strategies for data resiliency.
• Perform proactive performance tuning to eliminate bottlenecks and reduce response times.
• Provide on-call operational support for production databases and resolve severity incidents.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience in database administration.
• Extensive experience with MySQL management on UNIX platforms.
• 3+ years of experience developing shell scripts and Chef recipes for database automation on UNIX.
• 3+ years of experience supporting Oracle databases on UNIX or MS SQL databases on Windows.
• Proficiency with UNIX and Windows operating systems.
• Experience with Chef and Ansible.
• Proven experience providing on-call support for mission-critical production databases.

Preferred Skills

• Experience migrating MySQL databases from on-premises to Microsoft Azure.
• Experience developing PowerShell scripts for MS SQL or supporting Oracle on Exadata multi-tenant architecture.
