Description

You manage Progress database environments, ensuring system stability, performance, and availability through proactive monitoring and incident resolution.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Monitor database and system performance, executing routine health checks, space management, and user administration.
• Respond to alerts and support tickets within SLAs, performing root cause analysis and implementing preventive actions.
• Support backup and recovery operations, validating backups and participating in change management and deployment validation.
• Create and maintain SOPs, runbooks, and operational documentation while contributing to automation via Bash/Python scripts.
• Participate in 24x7 rotational support, go-lives, and critical operations, coordinating with customers and senior DBAs for timely resolutions.

Required Skills

• 5-10 years of hands-on experience with Progress databases (mandatory).
• Working knowledge of MariaDB/MySQL and AWS RDS.
• Strong understanding of Linux OS; basic Windows knowledge.
• Solid SQL fundamentals and core database administration concepts.
• Basic to intermediate Bash scripting skills; exposure to Python is beneficial.
• Understanding of ITIL processes, incident, and change management.
• Ability to troubleshoot under pressure in production support environments.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with SQL Server, MongoDB, or Cassandra.
