Description

You will administer, monitor, and support SQL Server databases across AWS (RDS, EC2) and Azure (SQL DB, Managed Instance, SQL on VMs).

Responsibilities

• Manage backup/recovery, patching, and high availability setups including AlwaysOn, Geo-replication, and Log Shipping.
• Tune SQL queries, improve indexing, and analyze wait stats using tools like SolarWinds DPA.
• Automate operational tasks using PowerShell, T-SQL, and scripting tools, contributing to DevOps pipelines.
• Integrate and optimize observability tools such as New Relic APM, RedGate Monitor, and SQL Monitor for diagnostics.
• Maintain secure access controls and auditing compliant with FedRAMP High and IL5 standards.

Required Skills

• 3-5 years of hands-on experience as a SQL Server DBA, with 2+ years in AWS or Azure cloud environments.
• Solid expertise with SQL Server 2016+ for installation, tuning, HA/DR, and maintenance.
• Proven experience with cloud monitoring tools: New Relic (DB Insights & APM) and SolarWinds DPA.
• Strong automation skills using PowerShell and T-SQL.
• Experience operating in regulated cloud environments (FedRAMP, IL5).
• Working knowledge of PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, and Redis.
• Familiarity with DevOps Pipelines and IaC principles.
