Description

You will develop code and test harnesses to optimize how applications interact with diverse database technologies.

Responsibilities

• Write code in Java, Python, and Go to interface with various database types.
• Develop test harnesses and sample code for connecting to relational and NoSQL databases.
• Research, test, and document best practices for programming languages connecting to different database technologies.
• Explore and share findings regarding database connectivity and performance.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience in database development or related roles.
• Proficiency in Java, Python, or Go.
• Solid knowledge of relational vs. NoSQL modeling, ACID, CAP, consistency, connection pooling, and retry logic.
• Experience with Postgres, RDS SQL Server, or DynamoDB.
• Familiarity with modern code repositories like Git.
• Experience with Unix shell scripting such as bash or Korn.
• Knowledge of cloud infrastructures including AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
• Experience with virtualization and containerization using VMware, OpenShift, Kubernetes, or Docker.
• Background as a database administrator or Unix system administrator.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with specific driver features like tunable consistency in Cassandra or durability settings in Couchbase.
