You will scale and improve database engines through architectural design and hands-on implementation.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Scale and improve database engines through architectural assistance and hands-on engineering.
• Write and review Infrastructure as Code to automate database setup and scaling.
• Analyze database and caching infrastructure behavior to improve observability.
• Build tooling to enhance the developer experience regarding datastores.
• Participate in an on-call rotation and act as an escalation point for production issues.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience running relational databases in large production environments (MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL).
• In-depth knowledge of distributed NoSQL database and Cassandra architecture.
• Experience setting up and managing Cassandra clusters.
• Advanced knowledge of query optimization, index management, statistics, and partitioning.
• Proficiency with an object-oriented programming language such as Python, Ruby, or Java.
• Experience with configuration management systems like Chef, Puppet, Ansible, or Terraform.
• Linux/Unix shell experience for troubleshooting production systems.
• Experience managing and scaling caching layers like Memcached or ElastiCache.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and collaborate across multiple time zones.

Preferred Skills

• Strong analytical skills for presenting and resolving complex database issues.
