Description

Design, architect, and maintain highly available, fault-tolerant cloud-based NoSQL database systems for terabyte-scale data.

This role is remote.

Responsibilities

• Architect and redesign existing database systems to improve availability and fault tolerance.
• Investigate root causes of complex issues in distributed architectures and implement technical solutions.
• Manage capacity planning and execute strategies to limit the blast radius of cluster stress.
• Collaborate with application teams to optimize queries and evolve data models.
• Automate database infrastructure and build self-service tools for engineering teams.

Required Skills

• 8+ years of experience building production database systems handling terabytes of data.
• Hands-on experience configuring and managing at least two of Cassandra, Couchbase, Redis, or MongoDB at scale.
• Experience managing database systems in hybrid cloud environments (on-prem and public cloud).
• Proficiency with automation frameworks including Ansible, Terraform, and Git pipelines.
• Experience with distributed persistent systems and asynchronous messaging.
• Ability to tune distributed systems for performance under increasing traffic volumes.
• Proven experience working in a fully remote environment with global teams.
• Competency in creating documentation and managing incidents via Jira.

Preferred Skills

• AWS or Google Cloud Platform certifications.
