Description

Manage and modernize mission-critical distributed database platforms to ensure high availability and stability.

This role is hybrid.

Responsibilities

• Maintain day-to-day support for Postgres and Greenplum environments using DevOps practices.
• Automate operational tasks and establish best practices for the Postgres DBaaS environment.
• Perform deep-dive troubleshooting and performance tuning across application, network, database, server, and storage tiers.
• Execute disaster recovery planning, including backup/restore testing and geo-redundant cluster implementation.
• Provide 24x7 firm-wide support, including rotational weekend on-call shifts.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator (DBA).
• Strong expertise in Postgres (V12+) and Greenplum (version 5, 6, or higher).
• Hands-on experience installing and configuring HADR/Replication clusters in Postgres.
• Proficiency in Linux/Unix OS fundamentals, including kernel and OS tuning for database performance.
• Experience with Ansible and shell, Perl, or Python scripting for automation.
• Deep knowledge of Greenplum Command Center, Workload Management, and data loading via gpload/external tables.
• Proven ability to improve SQL performance and tune complex queries.
• Experience managing geo-redundant databases using cluster managers like Patroni.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Azure or AWS infrastructure-as-a-service platforms.
• Knowledge of Snowflake design patterns and migration workflows.
• Familiarity with Cloud-based architectures and Identity Management.
