Responsibilities

Position Description:

Client is looking to bring on a Cloud Database Engineer (DBE) to their Database Services team. This team is moving data and databases over to the Google Cloud Platform. We are looking for a resource who is familiar with Microsoft SQL Server as well as open source databases. This person is going to be assisting to build out the automation, move to the cloud, and migrating databases as well as doing support. This person needs to have good communication skills. Minimum Qualifications • 3 years of experience engineering database solutions on open-source databases (PostgreSQL preferred) • 1 year of experience working with non-relational (NoSQL) database technologies (MongoDB and CosmosDB preferred) • Bachelor's degree in computer science, a concentration in a technical field or equivalent experience • Google Cloud Platform Professional Cloud Architect or equivalent experience • Familiarity with deploying infrastructure as code using Terraform • Experience with Git/Github Preferred Qualifications • Experience migrating data from MS SQL Server/Oracle to open-source cloud databases • Experience with migration tools such as migVisor • Experience with CDC tools such as Striim and Qlik Replicate Job Summary A Cloud Database Engineer (DBE) is responsible for building scalable, secure and performant database solutions in the cloud. The DBE helps application teams choose the best database technology to support the needs for their service. The DBE also needs to quickly diagnose and resolve issues on the cloud platform. They work closely with application and architecture teams to provide optimal solutions. Being able to interact with many different teams as the resident "data person" and being able to adapt to their workflow is essential for a DBE. The primary focus of the DBE is enforcing our database design best practices, protecting our data and supporting the production environment.
