Description

Manage the operation, administration, and optimization of PostgreSQL databases and tools in a production environment.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, patch, and upgrade PostgreSQL database software.
• Design technical architectures, data models, and migration strategies for PostgreSQL solutions.
• Monitor, diagnose, and resolve system failures, performance bottlenecks, and capacity issues.
• Implement and monitor daily maintenance jobs, backup procedures, and high availability solutions.
• Collaborate with network engineers and software developers to improve system performance and security.

Required Skills

• 8+ years of experience in PostgreSQL database administration and production support.
• 5+ years of expert-level knowledge specifically with PostgreSQL 9.5.
• 7+ years of experience in performance tuning, load testing, and database characteristics like indexing and partitioning.
• 5+ years of experience with Linux/Unix platforms and Linux Shell scripting.
• 5+ years of experience with database security concepts and NoSQL security.
• 5+ years of experience troubleshooting complex technical issues.
• 5+ years of experience with high availability solutions including Master-Master and Master-Slave architectures.
• 4+ years of experience using monitoring tools such as PEM and TOAD.
• 3+ years of experience with Puppet deployment and supporting PostgreSQL in Cloud environments like AWS or Google Cloud.

Preferred Skills

• EDB PostgreSQL Certification.
• Experience with NoSQL databases such as Couchbase or MongoDB.
• Experience working in Agile environments using SCRUM or XP.
