Description

You will own end-to-end database migrations from SQL Server to Google Cloud Platform, ensuring schema conversion, validation, and workload readiness.

This role is remote.

Responsibilities

• Configure DMS migration jobs and CDC to enable continuous replication and minimize downtime during cutover.
• Execute data validation through integrity checks and reconciliation; manage cutover and rollback strategies.
• Optimize SQL queries and database workloads for performance on Cloud SQL; benchmark pre- and post-migration.
• Implement security and connectivity requirements using IAM, encryption practices, and GCP networking with VPN.

Required Skills

• 8-10 years of experience in database migration, replication, and performance optimization.
• Deep expertise in SQL Server and Cloud SQL migration.
• Hands-on experience with DMS, CDC configuration, troubleshooting, and replication reliability.
• Strong SQL optimization skills for performance tuning and workload benchmarking.
• Proficiency in Python or Shell scripting for migration automation.
• Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines.

Preferred Skills

• Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and repeatable migration environments.
• Multi-cloud migration experience.
