Description

You will manage the documentation, design, implementation, and maintenance of databases supporting Java, .NET, and SQL-based systems in a DB2/zOS environment.

This role is remote.

Responsibilities

• Design physical data models optimized for DB2/zOS based on logical models and project requirements.
• Collaborate with Java, .NET, and SQL development teams on detailed database design, testing, and deployment.
• Optimize DB2 resource utilization by tuning static and dynamic queries, recommending indexes, and configuring parameters.
• Execute data mining, application error analysis, and query execution to repair data and support problem resolution.
• Maintain database integrity through disaster recovery planning, backup/archiving solutions, and 24/7 on-call incident response.

Required Skills

• 6+ years of heavy DB2 z/OS database administration and production support in an MVS-z/OS environment.
• Technical expertise in DB2 V8 and above.
• Proficiency with DB2 Utilities, SPUFI, QMF, OSC, BMC-DB2Mon, and PowerDesigner.
• Deep knowledge of logical and physical database design, performance monitoring, and alert threshold definition.
• Experience with stored procedures (COBOL and Native), triggers, UDFs, RMF, and SMF data.
• Strong SQL optimization skills for both OLTP and Data Warehouse environments.
• Experience supporting Java and SQL-based application lifecycles.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with J2EE environments.
• Experience with DB2 UDB on LUW.
