Description

Manage DB2/zOS database design, implementation, and maintenance for Java, .NET, and SQL-based systems.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement physical data models optimized for DB2/zOS environments.
• Collaborate with development teams on detailed database design, testing, and deployment.
• Perform SQL performance tuning on OLTP and Data Warehouse environments by optimizing queries and configuring parameters.
• Execute data mining, error analysis, and query execution to resolve data issues.
• Manage disaster recovery, backup/archiving solutions, and participate in 24/7 on-call rotational incident response.

Required Skills

• 6 years of heavy DB2 z/OS database administration and production support experience.
• Technical expertise with DB2 V8 and above.
• Deep knowledge of logical and physical database design, performance monitoring, and tuning.
• Experience with stored procedures (COBOL and NATIVE), triggers, and UDFs.
• Proficiency with RMF and use of SMF data.
• Hands-on experience with DB2 Utilities, SPUFI, QMF, OSC, BMC-DB2Mon, and PowerDesigner.
• Strong SQL and database design skills.
• Ability to define alert thresholds and monitor database performance.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with J2EE environments.
• Experience with DB2 UDB on LUW.
