Description

You will manage and support DB2 z/OS production environments within a sysplex data-sharing architecture.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Manage the creation and maintenance of database objects including tables, columns, and indexes.
• Execute database backup and recovery strategies and schedule maintenance utilities tailored to application requirements.
• Optimize performance by tuning SQL queries, indexing, stored procedures, and triggers to resolve concurrency issues.
• Collaborate with business analysts and developers to represent the database team during application design and implementation.
• Mentor junior DBAs and application developers while explaining complex technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience in a senior DBA role supporting DB2 (version 9 or higher) in a 24x7 environment.
• Expertise with DB2 version 11 or 12 on the z/OS platform.
• Proficiency in logical and physical data modeling design concepts.
• Hands-on experience with table partitioning and maintaining very large databases.
• Knowledge of third-party tools such as Omegamon, IBM DB2 Admin, BMC, CDB, or CA.
• Strong problem-solving, analysis, and prioritization skills.
• Ability to plan and execute technical projects to completion.

Preferred Skills

• IBM Certification.
