You will manage, maintain, and optimize DB2 subsystem environments and related software tools.
Responsibilities
Monitor DB2 system storage, memory, I/O, and CPU resources to design performance improvements and diagnose issues related to data distribution, cardinality, and join structures.
Manage DB2 subsystems, including Catalog/directory, WLM, bufferpools, zparms, PROCS, RLF, RTS, reorgs, runsstats, and rebinds.
Execute software upgrades and maintenance using SMP/E, IBMLINK, and ShopZSeries, ensuring PTFs are applied and fixes are propagated across platforms.
Drive root cause analysis for S1 calls and software-related problems by working with IBM and ISV vendor support teams.
Develop REXX scripts for automation of preventative, corrective, and predictive measures to avoid outages.
Build new subsystems, relocate existing ones, and implement advanced features such as DB2 Data Sharing and native XML.
Maintain technical documentation, including SOPs, Runbooks, and change control records via ServiceNow.
Required Skills
5+ years of experience in DB2 system programming.
Expertise in DB2 subsystem management and performance tuning of tablespaces, partitions, and indexes.
Proficiency with SQL and XML.
Experience using SMP/E for applying maintenance and upgrades.
Hands-on experience with DB2 Query Manager.
Ability to perform disaster recovery planning and subsystem recovery.
Knowledge of DB2 for LUW and Data Sharing architectures.
Experience managing vendor products including BMC Catalog Mgr, Change Mgr, Log Master, MainView for DB2, and Compuware File-Aid.
Familiarity with IBM InfoSphere Replication Server, High Performance Unload, and Informatica Power Exchange.
