Description

You will manage and optimize DB2 relational databases within a Z/OS mainframe environment, owning the stability and performance of critical 24x7 systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, maintain, and administer relational databases in a 24x7 environment.
• Investigate and resolve DB2 subsystem performance issues using diagnostic tools.
• Manage outages and incidents from initial troubleshooting through root cause analysis and corrective implementation.
• Provide consultancy services to application support groups and developers regarding SQL and index tuning.
• Execute database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience as a DB2 Database Administrator.
• Hands-on experience with Z/OS mainframe environment.
• Proficiency with SQL, including DDL, DML, and DCL.
• Hands-on experience with JCL and Cobol.
• Expertise with database management utilities such as Image Copy, Recovery, REORG, RUNSTATS, Load, Bind, and Explain.
• Ability to analyze explain plans and optimizer decisions to provide tuning recommendations.
• Experience with scripting and automation using Rexx or similar tools.
