Description

You manage and optimize DB2 production environments on the z/OS platform.

Responsibilities

• Manage creation and maintenance of database objects, including tables, columns, and indexes.
• Implement backup and recovery strategies and schedule maintenance utilities tailored to application usage.
• Perform performance tuning for SQL queries, indexing, stored procedures, triggers, and concurrency issues.
• Execute table partitioning and maintenance for very large databases.
• Represent the database team in application development projects and promote DB2 best practices to developers.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience in a senior DBA role supporting DB2 (version 9 or higher) in a 24x7 production environment.
• Expert knowledge of DB2 version 11/12 on the z/OS platform.
• Proficiency with logical and physical data modeling design concepts.
• Experience with sysplex environments and design and implementation.
• Working knowledge of third-party tools such as Omegamon, IBM DB2 Admin, BMC, CDB, and CA.
• Ability to mentor junior DBAs and explain complex technical issues to business analysts.
• Proven ability to plan and execute projects to completion.
