Description

Lead administration and support of DB2 and IMS databases on IBM mainframe (z/OS) environments.

This role is remote.

Responsibilities

• Provide 24/7 production support for DB2 and IMS, including on-call rotation.
• Monitor database performance, availability, and integrity using mainframe tools.
• Respond to incidents, troubleshoot issues, and resolve problems within DB2/IMS systems.
• Perform database backup, recovery, and execute maintenance utilities like RUNSTATS and REORG.
• Analyze and tune SQL queries, buffer pools, and IMS segments, DBDs, and PSBs.

Required Skills

• 6+ years of hands-on experience supporting DB2 for z/OS and IMS in production.
• Proven experience as a DB2/IMS Database Administrator in production support.
• Strong knowledge of mainframe tools: SPUFI, QMF, BMC, CA-DB2/IMS tools, and IBM utilities.
• Deep understanding of DB2 internals: logs, buffer pools, catalog/directory, and utilities.
• Proficiency in IMS Full-Function and Fast Path databases, DL/I calls, and PSB/DBD maintenance.
• Solid experience with JCL, TSO/ISPF, SDSF, and mainframe batch job troubleshooting.
• Experience with modern mainframe automation tools like Control-M or CA-7.
• Knowledge of COBOL, CICS, and batch job data flows.
• In-depth understanding of data management: permissions, recovery, security, and monitoring.

Preferred Skills

• Proficiency in troubleshooting performance tuning and capacity planning.
