Description

Lead the support, maintenance, and optimization of DB2 and IMS database environments in production. This role is hybrid.

Responsibilities

• Provide 24/7 production support and participate in an on-call rotation to resolve urgent incidents.
• Manage database maintenance including backups, recovery, reorgs, image copies, and utility execution.
• Optimize performance by tuning SQL queries, buffer pools, access paths, and IMS database segments.
• Implement database schema changes through formal change control and software release processes.
• Manage user access and permissions via RACF integration to ensure security compliance.

Required Skills

• 10+ years of hands-on experience supporting DB2 for z/OS and IMS in production environments.
• Expertise in IMS Full-Function and Fast Path databases, including DL/I calls and PSB/DBD maintenance.
• Deep knowledge of DB2 internals, logs, buffer pools, and catalog/directory management.
• Proficiency with mainframe tools including SPUFI, QMF, BMC, CA-DB2/IMS tools, and IBM utilities.
• Strong experience with JCL, TSO/ISPF, SDSF, and mainframe batch job troubleshooting.
• Technical proficiency in COBOL, CICS, and batch job data flows.
• Experience with DB2 Data Sharing and IMS Sysplex environments.
• Familiarity with automation tools and schedulers such as Control-M or CA-7.
• Knowledge of Linux/Unix systems and scripting using Shell or Python.

Preferred Skills

• IBM Certified Database Administrator – DB2 for z/OS certification.
• Experience working in regulated environments such as banking, insurance, or healthcare.
