Description

You will maintain the stability, availability, and performance of DB2 and IMS databases on IBM mainframe (z/OS) environments.

This role is remote.

Responsibilities

• Provide 24/7 production support for DB2 and IMS, including on-call rotation.
• Monitor database performance, availability, and integrity using mainframe tools.
• Respond to incidents, troubleshoot issues, and resolve DB2/IMS system problems.
• Perform database backup and recovery procedures and ensure data security.
• Analyze and tune SQL queries, buffer pools, and access paths in DB2.

Required Skills

• 6+ years of hands-on experience supporting DB2 for z/OS and IMS in production.
• Deep understanding of DB2 internals, logs, buffer pools, and catalog/directory.
• Proficiency in IMS Full-Function and Fast Path, DL/I calls, and PSB/DBD maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of mainframe tools: SPUFI, QMF, BMC, CA-DB2/IMS, and IBM utilities.
• Solid experience with JCL, TSO/ISPF, SDSF, and mainframe batch job troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of COBOL, CICS, and batch job data flows.
• Experience with backup and recovery solutions, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
