Description

You will support a mixed database environment consisting of Sybase ASE 15.7 on Solaris and various versions of SQL Server on Windows Server and Azure.

Responsibilities

• Manage Sybase 15.7 environments, including running and developing CRON jobs via command line in Unix.
• Assist with SQL Server tasks involving clusters and Disaster Recovery across development, test, and production environments.
• Execute weekly data fixes and support after-hours implementations.
• Participate in an on-call rotation from Saturday morning through Monday morning.
• Operate within formal change control environments to ensure system stability.

Required Skills

• 4+ years of experience in database administration.
• Hands-on experience with Sybase ASE 15.7.
• Experience with SQL Server on Windows Server.
• Proficiency with Unix/Solaris environments and command line usage.
• Ability to develop and manage CRON jobs.
• Strong troubleshooting skills within database systems.
• Experience working with clusters and Disaster Recovery protocols.
• Ability to work hybrid in Lansing, MI, with required onsite presence on Wednesdays and one other day.

Preferred Skills

• Direct experience migrating workloads from Sybase to SQL Server.
• Experience managing SQL Server environments in Azure.
