Description

You will manage and optimize database systems across cloud and on-premises environments.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and manage database systems on AWS (Redshift, EMR) and on-premises hardware like IBM Netezza or Greenplum.
• Perform core administration tasks including backup, recovery, performance tuning, and SQL optimization.
• Develop shell scripts for data loading, unloading, and routine maintenance activities.
• Implement workload management for resource allocation and manage data replication, encryption, and archiving.
• Provide 24/7/365 support via an on-call rotation to resolve issues across application, database, and network tiers.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience in general database administration.
• 3+ years of experience managing technologies such as IBM Netezza, Teradata, Pivotal Greenplum, or Actian ParAccel.
• 1+ years of experience with cloud database services including AWS Redshift or AWS EMR.
• Strong knowledge of the Hadoop ecosystem (YARN, MapReduce, HDFS, HBase, ZooKeeper, Hive).
• Deep understanding of Data Warehousing and MPP architecture.
• Ability to write, analyze, and optimize complex SQL queries using query plans and database statistics.
• Proficiency in Unix/Linux and shell scripting.
• Experience with SDLC, Change Management, and troubleshooting methodologies.

Preferred Skills

• B.S. in Computer Science, BTECH, or equivalent work experience.
