Description

You will manage MySQL databases within AWS environments to ensure performance, security, and uptime.

This role is hybrid.

Responsibilities

• Administer MySQL databases in AWS, focusing on performance, security, and high availability.
• Perform SQL query analysis and tuning to improve response times and reduce resource consumption.
• Configure and maintain backups, replication, and disaster recovery protocols.
• Monitor database health using CloudWatch and performance schema.
• Collaborate with developers to optimize schema designs, indexes, and query plans.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of MySQL administration experience.
• 3+ years of experience with AWS, specifically RDS or EC2-based MySQL.
• Proficiency with AWS services including RDS, CloudWatch, IAM, and S3.
• Strong expertise in SQL tuning, query optimization, and performance troubleshooting.
• Experience managing backup/restore, replication, and high availability configurations.
• Hands-on experience with MySQL Workbench or Percona Toolkit.
• Working knowledge of Linux-based systems for database administration.
• Scripting proficiency in Python or Bash.

Preferred Skills

• Experience or exposure to AWS Glue.
• Understanding of AWS Lambda, Athena, and Redshift.
• AWS certification such as Database Specialty or Solutions Architect Associate.
