Senior DevOps Engineer specializing in Terraform, AWS infrastructure, and Kubernetes orchestration in Des Moines, IA.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain AWS infrastructure using Terraform and TypeScript, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to best practices.
• Architect and manage Istio service mesh within EKS clusters to secure and streamline service interactions.
• Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and other tools to automate infrastructure and application deployments.
• Develop comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting systems using FluentBit, CloudWatch, and Dynatrace to ensure high availability.
• Enforce security best practices and compliance controls across AWS environments, utilizing IAM, Cognito, and network security protocols.

Required Skills

• 10+ years of professional IT experience with at least 8 years focused on AWS services (EC2, EKS, ECR, Lambda, RDS, S3, Cognito, NLB, IAM).
• Expert-level proficiency in Terraform for infrastructure as code, including 4+ years of hands-on development.
• 8+ years of experience managing CI/CD pipelines and configuration management/orchestration tools.
• Strong experience with Amazon EKS, including packaging resources with Helm charts and managing microservices frameworks.
• Proficiency in scripting languages, specifically TypeScript and Python, for automation and tooling.
• Deep understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, SSL/TLS) and AWS Well-Architected Frameworks.
• Experience building and maintaining service meshes like Istio within Kubernetes environments.

Preferred Skills

• AWS certifications (e.g., Certified Solutions Architect, Certified DevOps Engineer).
• Experience in public sector or large-scale project environments.
