Description

You will own the Linux foundational software architecture across AMD Embedded/x86 SoCs, covering kernel, BSP, drivers, and platform enablement layers.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute a scalable Linux foundation strategy supporting Ubuntu, Yocto, and long-term LTS kernels across current and future products.
• Drive upstream-first engagement with the Linux community to ensure AMD features land cleanly in mainline and remain sustainable.
• Lead teams responsible for kernel enablement, BSP bring-up, device drivers, and feature enablement across CPU, IO, graphics, multimedia, power management, RAS, and real-time domains.
• Oversee pre-silicon Linux development using emulation and virtual platforms to enable left-shift software readiness.
• Own system-level Linux validation spanning silicon, firmware, drivers, OS, and virtualization layers, defining validation scope, coverage, and quality metrics.

Required Skills

• 10+ years of experience in Linux kernel development and system architecture.
• Deep expertise in BSP development, device drivers, and system architecture for embedded or x86 SoCs.
• Proven experience with virtualization technologies, including Xen/KVM.
• Strong background in CI/CD, automation, and build systems for Linux environments.
• Experience leading high-performing engineering teams and cross-functional collaboration.
• Knowledge of upstream Linux community engagement and mainline kernel contributions.
• Understanding of power management, RAS (Reliability, Availability, Serviceability), and real-time systems.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Ubuntu, Yocto, and LTS kernels.
• Knowledge of silicon design, firmware/BIOS understanding, and hardware validation.
• Familiarity with quality metrics including DPPM and security posture assessment.
