Manage the design and development of BIW closures from initial concept through mass production.
Responsibilities
Execute door BIW 3D modeling for components including front and rear door OTR/INR panels, frame assemblies, hinges, latches, and reinforcement members.
Develop master sections and layouts for hinge axis fixing, beam/impact members, and door BIW skin feasibility.
Coordinate design stages with digital designers, packaging engineers, electronics teams, and door mechanism specialists.
Manage the complete product life cycle, aligning maturation with project schedules and driving continuous quality improvement.
Evaluate supplier selection based on complexity and tool costs while ensuring compliance with stamping processes and weld gun layouts.
Required Skills
5+ years of experience in BIW closure design and development.
Proven experience with at least two complete product life cycles.
Proficiency in CATIA V5 and CATIA V6 for 3D, 2D, and 3D modeling.
Deep knowledge of sheet metal design and stamping processes.
Experience with door regulations for Asian and European markets.
Ability to perform feasibility checks, master section creation, and layout fixing.
Direct experience working with Asian or Japanese OEM customers.
Understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and weld gun layout requirements.
