Description

You will manage epidemiologic surveillance activities and infectious disease investigations to support public health initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Conduct public health investigations of individual cases and infectious disease outbreaks.
• Design descriptive and analytical epidemiologic investigations, including hypothesis generation.
• Manage large datasets, perform complex data analyses, and identify key findings.
• Recommend evidence-based interventions and control measures based on epidemiologic findings.
• Prepare written and oral reports, presentations, and educational materials for internal and external partners.
• Direct and coordinate the work of assigned interns.

Required Skills

• Master’s degree in a relevant field with 2+ years of public health experience, OR a doctoral-level degree in epidemiology, OR a graduate/professional health degree (RN, MD/DO, DDS/DMD, DVM, PhD, RS) with specific epidemiology training, OR a bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of relevant public health experience.
• Knowledge of the epidemiology and biology of infectious diseases.
• Experience with state laws, regulations, and federal public health guidance regarding infectious diseases.
• Proficiency in statistical, analytical, or geospatial software such as EpiInfo, SAS, ArcGIS, SQL, SPSS, R, Python, or Stata.
• Ability to apply informatics principles to data collection, processing, and analysis.
• Skill in conducting structured or unstructured telephone interviews to elicit patient information.
• Knowledge of state and federal privacy laws to ensure patient confidentiality.
• Ability to collaborate with internal and external partners to identify public health problems.
