You will manage epidemiologic surveillance activities and infectious disease investigations to support public health initiatives.
Responsibilities
Conduct public health investigations of individual cases and infectious disease outbreaks.
Design descriptive and analytical epidemiologic investigations, including hypothesis generation.
Manage large datasets, perform complex data analyses, and identify key findings.
Recommend evidence-based interventions and control measures based on epidemiologic findings.
Prepare written and oral reports, presentations, and educational materials for internal and external partners.
Direct and coordinate the work of assigned interns.
Required Skills
Master’s degree in a relevant field with 2+ years of public health experience, OR a doctoral-level degree in epidemiology, OR a graduate/professional health degree (RN, MD/DO, DDS/DMD, DVM, PhD, RS) with specific epidemiology training, OR a bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of relevant public health experience.
Knowledge of the epidemiology and biology of infectious diseases.
Experience with state laws, regulations, and federal public health guidance regarding infectious diseases.
Proficiency in statistical, analytical, or geospatial software such as EpiInfo, SAS, ArcGIS, SQL, SPSS, R, Python, or Stata.
Ability to apply informatics principles to data collection, processing, and analysis.
Skill in conducting structured or unstructured telephone interviews to elicit patient information.
Knowledge of state and federal privacy laws to ensure patient confidentiality.
Ability to collaborate with internal and external partners to identify public health problems.
