Description

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain embedded engine control and aftertreatment software strategies.
• Create control logic, flow diagrams, and software architectures using MATLAB, Simulink, and Stateflow.
• Support the complete software development lifecycle, including concept development, implementation, validation, documentation, and production support.
• Enhance and troubleshoot existing production software while implementing continuous improvements.
• Produce detailed technical documentation, engineering diagrams, and ISO-compliant design documentation.
• Collaborate with software developers, systems engineers, validation teams, and other engineering stakeholders.
• Lead technical discussions to gather requirements and develop effective software solutions.
• Analyze engine test results and support troubleshooting through software and data analysis.
• Work closely with validation engineers to understand HIL/SIL testing results and resolve software-related issues.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• 2–4 years of full-time industrial embedded software development experience (internships do not qualify).
• Strong experience developing embedded software using:
  • MATLAB
  • Simulink
  • Stateflow
• Experience creating or maintaining embedded control software for production systems.
• Strong understanding of the embedded software development lifecycle.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience producing technical documentation, engineering diagrams, and flowcharts.
• Ability to collaborate across cross-functional engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with embedded systems for automotive, heavy equipment, aerospace, or industrial applications.
• Knowledge of diesel engine controls or aftertreatment systems.
• Familiarity with:
  • Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL)
  • Software-in-the-Loop (SIL)
  • Embedded C/C++
• Experience supporting software validation and interpreting test results.

Work Environment

• Primarily office-based (approximately 90%) with occasional interaction in engine testing labs.
• No hands-on operation of engines or heavy equipment.
• Engineers review testing results electronically and support software strategy development.
• Standard PPE may be required when entering lab environments.
