Analyze system requirements, design specifications, and use cases to develop detailed test plans and test strategies for embedded systems.
Define test objectives, scope, test scenarios, and acceptance criteria for various testing phases, including:
Unit Testing
Integration Testing
System Testing
Regression Testing
Performance Testing
Real-Time Testing
Stability and Compatibility Testing
Set up and configure test environments, including:
Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL)
Software-in-the-Loop (SIL)
Test benches
Embedded target systems and specialized test equipment
Design, develop, and execute test cases, test procedures, and automated test scripts using Python and C/C++.
Perform manual and automated testing on embedded targets, prototypes, ECUs, and production systems.
Conduct real-time testing to validate system response times, performance, and reliability against defined requirements.
Validate hardware-software integration, component compatibility, and communication interfaces.
Perform testing and debugging of automotive communication protocols including:
CAN
UDS over CAN
Ethernet-based communication
SPI
I2C
UART
Analyze test results, identify defects, perform root-cause analysis, and collaborate with development teams for issue resolution.
Manage defects using defect tracking tools and provide detailed defect reports.
Develop and maintain test automation frameworks and integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
Use debugging and validation tools such as:
Oscilloscopes
Logic analyzers
JTAG debuggers
Multimeters
ECU diagnostic tools
Improve testing processes, methodologies, and automation frameworks.
Maintain documentation including:
Test plans
Test cases
Test execution reports
Test environment configurations
Test results
Develop and maintain Requirements Traceability Matrices (RTMs).
Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards and safety regulations such as:
ISO 26262
Automotive SPICE (ASPICE)
IEC 61508
Strong understanding of embedded software design principles and embedded system architectures.
Good knowledge of operating systems such as:
Linux
QNX
Android
Strong experience in embedded software testing and validation.
Ability to write detailed and structured test cases using standard test design techniques.
Hands-on experience with ECU testing on vehicles, test benches, and hardware platforms.
Strong Python programming skills with experience in:
Test automation frameworks (pytest, unittest)
Data analysis libraries (NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib)
Experience in developing automated test scripts and test frameworks.
Good understanding of automotive communication protocols:
CAN
UDS over CAN
Ethernet communication
Experience with automotive embedded systems and ECU validation.
Hands-on experience with HIL/SIL testing tools.
Knowledge of CAN analysis tools such as CANoe/CANalyzer.
Experience with CI/CD tools and automated test execution environments.
Knowledge of automotive software development lifecycle and validation processes.
Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Embedded Systems, or related field.
Relevant experience in embedded software testing and automotive validation.
3–8 years of experience in Embedded Software Testing, ECU Validation, or Automotive Testing
