Description

You will serve as the principal engineer for the API Gateways squad, owning the development and maintenance of an Envoy-based API Gateway.

Responsibilities

• Build, enhance, and maintain the core Envoy-based API Gateway infrastructure.
• Drive performance improvements and increase overall gateway stability.
• Develop new Envoy capabilities by implementing custom Filters and enhancing the External Processing sidecar.
• Provide expert guidance on Envoy configuration and best practices to the team.
• Support API Producers by increasing gateway flexibility and capability.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Expert-level proficiency in C++.
• Extensive hands-on experience configuring and operating Envoy Proxy.
• Deep expertise with Kubernetes orchestration and ecosystem.
• Experience conducting and analyzing performance testing.
• Proficiency in GoLang and/or Rust.
• Ability to work with go-control-plane for dynamic configuration.

Preferred Skills

• Active Envoy contributor or extensive power user with upstream engagement.
