Description

You will manage fiber optic installations and maintenance within a data center environment.

Responsibilities

• Terminate all connector types and methods for SMF and MMF systems including Unicam, anaerobic, and heat-cure.
• Test and troubleshoot MMF and SMF systems using OTDR and PMLS.
• Act as a liaison between the company and customer representatives.
• Implement project process improvements and solve technical issues using critical thinking.
• Perform physical tasks including working at heights, on ladders, in confined spaces, and lifting up to 75 pounds.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in testing and troubleshooting MMF and SMF systems.
• Experience with SMF and MMF connector termination (Unicam, anaerobic, heat-cure).
• Hands-on use of trade tools: screwdrivers, torpedo level, tape measure, snips, pliers, hammer, wrench set, cable stripper, and flashlight.
• Proficiency with punch tools (110 and 66 block blades), tone sets, combo crimp tools, and Krone/3M/BIX.
• Ability to read small print, distinguish colors, and recognize audible signals.
• High School diploma or GED equivalent.

Preferred Skills

• 3-5 years of experience in fiber optics.
• Industry certifications such as Corning, FOA, or BICSI.
• Data center installation, mechanical and fusion splicing, or OSP/Confined Space Entry experience.
