Description

You will serve as the analytical review and knowledge base for the Indiana Department of Health, ensuring proper financial requirements, spend, reporting, and rebate activities for each grant.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Provide critical oversight and risk management review of financial activities, working closely with accountants and deputy controllers.
• Partner with program directors to ensure success in managing grants, goals, and timelines while reviewing budgetary constraints.
• Execute project setup, budget amendments, grant renewals, and submissions in the state financial system.
• Manage accounting procedures including general ledger postings, journal corrections, wires, deposits, and reconciliations.
• Ensure the state financial system is configured with controls that meet federal grant requirements and state policy.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, or grant management.
• Deep knowledge of accounting standards, grant activity posting, and federal/state financial reporting requirements.
• Experience with risk management, program support, and reconciliation procedures.
• Ability to interpret and apply federal grant requirements, including OMB/SBA guidelines and MOUs.
• Proficiency in communicating and intervening to represent and support program teams.
• Experience with procurement, accounting, contracting, and revenue collection processes.
• Strong critical thinking skills for timing expectations, grant percentage requirements, and expense tracking.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with sub-recipient audits and county support for federal grant funds.
• Familiarity with state agency MOUs regarding grant participation and accountabilities.
