Independently analyze cloud billing, usage and cost data to identify trends, anomalies and optimization opportunities.
Assess FinOps maturity, reporting processes and the quality of cost data to prioritize improvements.
Design a scalable FinOps operating framework covering visibility, accountability, governance and optimization.
Develop cost-allocation and showback/chargeback methodologies across applications, products, business units, cost centers and environments.
Define rules for allocating shared cloud-platform and enterprise-service costs and establish tagging and account hierarchy standards.
Define KPIs for allocation coverage, forecast accuracy, budget variance, unit economics, utilization, waste and realized savings.
Develop dashboards and executive-level reports for Finance, Engineering and business stakeholders using modern BI tools.
Partner with application and engineering teams to investigate cost drivers and recommend optimization actions.
Support budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and cloud-cost reconciliation and document methodologies, assumptions and governance processes.
Facilitate stakeholder workshops and translate financial insights for technical and nontechnical audiences.
Qualifications
6–10 years of overall experience with 3+ years in Cloud FinOps or cloud cost management preferred.
Strong experience with FinOps practices, cloud financial management and cost-allocation/showback or chargeback methodologies.
Hands-on cloud cost analysis across AWS and Azure; GCP experience preferred.
Proven understanding of FinOps frameworks, KPI development, unit economics and benchmarking.
Advanced Excel and SQL skills; experience with cloud billing exports and reconciliation.
Experience building dashboards and reports in Power BI, Tableau or Looker; familiarity with Looker or similar tools is a plus.
Excellent analytical, presentation and stakeholder-management skills with the ability to work independently and convert incomplete data into actionable recommendations
