Key Responsibilities

API & Integration Engineering: Design, build, and deploy secure, scalable APIs, microservices, and message-driven data interfaces using Node.js, Python, and AWS messaging services (SQS, SNS).

ETL & Data Pipeline Orchestration: Build automated ETL workflows and data pipelines to facilitate high-throughput interoperability between healthcare and insurance databases/warehouses.

Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Provision, maintain, and automate cloud infrastructure deployments using AWS CDK and modern CI/CD automation tools.

Database & SQL Optimization: Author complex, performant SQL queries, data transformations, and schema designs across relational and cloud data stores.

Automated Quality Engineering: Develop, execute, and maintain automated test suites—including unit, integration, API, end-to-end (E2E), smoke, and performance tests.

Agile Delivery: Collaborate within an Agile pod using Git version control to deliver iterative platform modernizations and data features.

Required Technical Skills & Qualifications

Experience Level: 4–6 years of hands-on software and data engineering experience.

Backend & Language Stack: Proficiency in Node.js and Python for API development and data scripting.

AWS Cloud Ecosystem: Hands-on experience with AWS Lambdas, SQS, SNS, S3, and Infrastructure as Code via AWS CDK.

Data & Database Core: Strong demonstrated SQL expertise combined with hands-on ETL, Data Warehousing, and Data Integration experience.

Automated Testing Depth: Direct experience authoring automated test suites covering Unit, Integration, API, E2E, and Performance testing.

Hybrid Onsite Commitment: Ability to work on-site 3–4 days per week in Des Moines, IA.

Preferred Sourcing Attributes

Domain knowledge in Healthcare (HIPAA, HL7, FHIR) or Insurance data models.

Experience in client-facing technology consulting or enterprise digital modernization projects.

Local to the Des Moines, IA metropolitan area.
