Description

Design, implement, and manage enterprise-grade database solutions on Google Cloud, focusing on scalability, security, and performance optimization.

This role is remote.

Responsibilities

• Architect scalable database environments using Cloud SQL, Cloud Spanner, Bigtable, AlloyDB, and Firestore.
• Lead complex database migration projects from on-premises or other clouds to Google Cloud with minimal downtime.
• Optimize database performance through query tuning, indexing, execution plan analysis, and connection pooling.
• Implement High Availability (HA), Disaster Recovery (DR), replication, failover, and Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR) solutions.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning using Terraform and scripting languages like Python, Bash, or Go.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience with Google Cloud SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server).
• Hands-on experience with Cloud Spanner, Bigtable, AlloyDB, or Firestore.
• Proficiency in PostgreSQL, Oracle, or Microsoft SQL Server.
• Experience with Google Cloud Database Migration Service (DMS) and CDC tools like Ora2Pg.
• Strong background in performance tuning and query optimization.
• Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
• Scripting skills in Python, Bash, or Go.
• Knowledge of Java, JDBC, ODBC, and Hibernate for application connectivity.
• Implementation of IAM policies, encryption standards, and security best practices.

Preferred Skills

• Google Professional Cloud Database Engineer Certification.
• Experience with AWS or Azure to Google Cloud migrations.
• Familiarity with Dataflow, CDC pipelines, and modern analytics integration.
