Description

You will own the maintenance, performance, and availability of IBM Db2 databases (LUW and z/OS). You diagnose complex issues, optimize queries, and manage data protection strategies.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and troubleshooting for multiple IBM Db2 databases, resolving utility failures, locking conflicts, and buffer pool problems.
• Monitor database health using Db2 Monitoring Console, db2pd, db2top, and system views to detect deadlocks and long-running applications.
• Manage tablespaces, containers, storage groups, and transaction logs, including log archiving and recovery configurations.
• Optimize performance through index design, buffer pool tuning, RUNSTATS, REORG, and parameter adjustments.
• Implement backup and recovery strategies, including online backups, rollforward recovery, and HADR environments.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience administering IBM Db2 databases.
• Deep expertise in both LUW and z/OS environments.
• Strong ability to diagnose and resolve catalog inconsistencies and storage issues.
• Experience with user access management, roles, privileges, and authentication (LDAP, Kerberos).
• Proficiency in performance tuning tools and techniques.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
