Description

You engineer and maintain the core IBM Z stack, managing z/OS modernization, upgrades, and subsystem performance across large enterprise environments.

This role is remote.

Responsibilities

• Execute full-stack mainframe engineering including z/OS upgrades, z/VM virtualization, and subsystem tuning for DB2, CICS, IMS, and MQ.
• Manage security platforms RACF and ACF2, ensuring compliance, access controls, and encryption standards for data in transit.
• Analyze system performance and capacity using SMF and RMF metrics to identify bottlenecks and optimize throughput.
• Automate operational tasks and standardize processes using REXX, CLIST, JCL, and TSO/ISPF to reduce manual effort.
• Collaborate with application, middleware, and security teams to resolve cross-subsystem dependencies and ensure regulatory compliance.

Required Skills

• 12+ years of hands-on IBM Mainframe experience in large enterprise environments.
• Deep expertise in z/OS versions, upgrades, and interoperability.
• Strong knowledge of DB2 for z/OS, CICS TS, IMS (DB/DC), and IBM MQ for z/OS.
• Proficiency in JCL, REXX/CLIST, and TSO/ISPF for automation and scripting.
• Experience with RACF and ACF2 security platforms.
• Understanding of TLS encryption, mainframe storage, and networking (SNA, VTAM, TCP/IP).
• Ability to perform root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and documentation.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in regulated environments such as financial services, insurance, or government.
• Familiarity with Change Data Capture (CDC), ETL tools, and DB2 Gateway.
