Description

Lead z/OS platform modernization and upgrade engineering across multiple concurrent legacy and current z/OS versions, managing interoperability and incremental upgrade paths.

This role is hybrid.

Responsibilities

• Provide deep system-level engineering expertise across the core IBM Z stack, including DB2 for z/OS configuration, CICS TS workload tuning, IMS platform interaction, and IBM MQ Queue Manager architecture.
• Perform dependency validation across the full stack, pre-upgrade technical assessments, and post-upgrade stabilization and tuning.
• Review and engineer security profiles across RACF and ACF2 platforms to maintain access controls, compliance enforcement, and data-in-transit encryption.
• Leverage SMF, RMF, and operational metrics to analyze system performance, identify bottlenecks, tune system parameters, and support capacity planning.
• Provide engineering insight into mainframe storage behavior, layout, recovery, and networking protocols (SNA, VTAM, TCP/IP) around z/VM virtualized environments.

Required Skills

• Full-Stack IBM Mainframe Engineering and Upgrades (z/OS, z/VM, core subsystems DB2/CICS/IMS) with 8+ years of experience.
• IBM MQ for z/OS Subsystem Architecture and TLS Enablement with 8+ years of experience.
• Mainframe Security Engineering (RACF and ACF2) with 8+ years of experience.
• Proficiency in JCL, REXX, CLIST, and TSO/ISPF for automation scripting.
• Experience with Enterprise Schedulers (CA-7, Control-M) and common ISV tooling.
• Strong understanding of mainframe networking architecture including SNA, VTAM, and TCP/IP.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.

Preferred Skills

• Performance monitoring and capacity management using SMF and RMF.
