Description

You engineer and modernize the IBM Z stack, managing z/OS upgrades, subsystem tuning, and cross-platform dependencies across large enterprise environments.

This role is hybrid.

Responsibilities

• Manage z/OS version interoperability, upgrade paths, and post-upgrade stabilization for multiple concurrent systems.
• Engineer subsystem configurations and performance tuning for DB2, CICS, IMS, and IBM MQ, including TLS enablement.
• Analyze and resolve cross-subsystem dependencies involving storage, networking (SNA, VTAM, TCP/IP), and virtualization (z/VM).
• Implement security controls using RACF and ACF2, ensuring compliance with audit and risk policies.
• Automate operational tasks using REXX, CLIST, and JCL to reduce manual effort and improve system reliability.

Required Skills

• 8–12+ years of hands-on IBM Mainframe experience in large enterprise environments.
• Deep expertise in z/OS, z/VM, DB2 for z/OS, CICS TS, IMS, and IBM MQ.
• Strong proficiency in JCL, REXX/CLIST, and TSO/ISPF.
• Experience with RACF and ACF2 security platforms for access control and compliance.
• Knowledge of mainframe storage behavior, networking protocols, and SMF/RMF performance monitoring.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex subsystem interactions and conduct root cause analysis.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
