Description

You will manage the design, implementation, and technical support of IMS and DB2 application databases on z/OS.

This role is remote.

Responsibilities

• Design, maintain, and provide technical support for application database systems.
• Manage database configuration, capacity planning, performance tuning, and problem resolution.
• Administer technical design, testing, and implementation, including backup and recovery procedures.
• Perform day-to-day operations, feasibility studies, and cost estimates.
• Provide on-call support, including off-hours and weekends, to ensure database availability.

Required Skills

• 10+ years of experience in DB2 DBA and IMS DBA on z/OS.
• Expertise in managing Full Function and Fast Path databases, including HALDBs.
• Deep knowledge of IMS and DB2 internals, installations, and operations.
• Experience with Data Sharing, Parallel Sysplex, and DB2 Connect.
• Proficiency in logical and physical database design, data modeling, and normalization.
• Advanced SQL coding, access path analysis, and performance tuning skills.
• Hands-on experience with z/OS utilities, JCL, Sysgen, and Recon maintenance.
• Knowledge of IBM, BMC, and CA utilities, as well as DB2 and IMS ISV products.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with SEIBEL, CICS/DB2, and MQ/DB2.
• Familiarity with installing and interfacing with OEM vendor tools.
