Job Summary

STAFFXPERT LLC is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer – Automation on behalf of our client in Chicago, IL. This role is focused on developing and maintaining automation solutions that streamline IT operations, infrastructure management, and business processes.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on expertise in Python and PowerShell, along with experience automating Windows environments, infrastructure processes, enterprise integrations, and DevOps workflows.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, maintain, and optimize automation solutions using Python and PowerShell.

Automate infrastructure provisioning, deployment, monitoring, and operational processes.

Develop reusable scripts, modules, and automation utilities to reduce manual effort.

Integrate applications, APIs, databases, and enterprise tools through automation workflows.

Troubleshoot automation scripts, scheduled jobs, and production issues.

Collaborate with infrastructure, application, QA, and support teams to deliver automation solutions.

Implement logging, exception handling, monitoring, and error-management capabilities.

Participate in code reviews and follow development and security standards.

Create technical documentation, deployment guides, and operational procedures.

Support CI/CD pipelines and DevOps initiatives through scripting and automation.

Required Qualifications

8+ years of PowerShell development and automation experience.

8+ years of Python programming experience.

5+ years of infrastructure/IT automation experience.

Strong Python development skills, including:

Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)

REST API integration

JSON/XML processing

File and data manipulation

Error handling and logging

Experience with Python libraries such as Requests, Pandas, Paramiko, and PyYAML.

Advanced PowerShell scripting experience, including:

Windows Server automation

Active Directory automation

Scheduled jobs and task automation

PowerShell modules and functions

System monitoring and reporting

Strong understanding of Git and version control.

Working knowledge of SQL and database queries.

Experience supporting enterprise infrastructure and automation environments.

Preferred Qualifications

Exposure to Azure or AWS cloud automation.

Experience with Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions.

Experience supporting CI/CD and DevOps initiatives.

Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.

Experience working with cross-functional infrastructure and application teams.
