Description

You will manage and optimize API management solutions, primarily using Kong API Gateway, while building and maintaining scalable Kubernetes infrastructure.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Implement and manage API security policies including OAuth, JWT, rate limiting, and IP filtering.
• Design and develop custom Kong plugins using Lua for advanced authentication, logging, and transformations.
• Monitor API performance and implement distributed tracing using OpenTelemetry to identify bottlenecks.
• Migrate APIM platforms and define API requirements, standards, and onboarding processes.

Required Skills

• 5-8 years of experience in APIM management tools, specializing in Kong API Gateway.
• Deep expertise in managing Kong API Gateway performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Proficiency in Lua for writing and maintaining Kong plugins.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Redis cache, and AWS infrastructure components.
• Experience with observability frameworks including OpenTelemetry (OTEL), Datadog, and Splunk.
• Strong understanding of API versioning, documentation, and security best practices.
• Experience working in SaaS environments to enable application team API adoption.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Apigee Edge and performing proxy migrations from Apigee Edge to Kong.
• Experience managing cloud infrastructure across AWS and Azure.
