Description

You will own the administration and optimization of Db2 z/OS environments, ensuring high availability, security, and performance.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical counsel on DBA matters and coordinate with Senior DBAs on large-scale projects to ensure delivery standards.
• Analyze, design, and implement database solutions focusing on access methods, security, resiliency, and future growth.
• Triaging Db2 z/OS issues ranging from simple job restarts to complex interdepartmental problems with timely resolution.
• Interpret access paths and explain plans to isolate performance bottlenecks and support proactive tuning decisions.
• Identify opportunities to streamline workloads through automation and process improvements.

Required Skills

• Strong experience in database administration with a specific focus on Db2 z/OS environments.
• Proficiency in database design, implementation, and maintenance, including performance tuning and optimization.
• Ability to analyze and interpret database access paths and explain plans to troubleshoot performance issues.
• Experience managing database security, backup, recovery, and resiliency strategies.
• Familiarity with automation tools and scripting to streamline database administration tasks.
• Understanding of database lifecycle management, including deployment, upgrades, and patching.
• 5+ years of experience in database administration roles.

Preferred Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Science Technology.
• Knowledge of industry best practices for database performance, scalability, and reliability.
