Job Description

We are looking for a hands-on Infrastructure Support Engineer to provide both local IT support and "hands & eyes" services for remote infrastructure teams at our customer's site in Zedelgem. This is a broad and challenging role for a strong IT generalist who enjoys variety and impact, a role that requires a strong sense of ownership and responsibility, a talent for prioritization, documentation, vendor coordination, and high-stake production impacting problem solving.

The role combines end-user support (1st to 3rd line), infrastructure management, networking and server support, with on-site technical assistance for corporate IT, OT environments, IoT devices, scanners, and meeting room technologies.

The ideal candidate is a versatile IT generalist with strong troubleshooting skills, networking knowledge, and the ability to effectively bridge local business operations with remote technical teams.

Responsibilities

  • Act as local “hands & eyes” for remote infrastructure teams, including network, server, security, and application support activities.
  • Assist central teams with networking and infrastructure issues involving IP, DNS, Wi-Fi, VLANs/trunks, Cisco switching concepts, firewalls, RDP, SMB, ICMP, and local/remote access paths.
  • Provide hands-on support to the local EUS IT support team in Zedelgem, for Problem and incident management.
  • Support OT/shopfloor-related environments such as PLC/HMI connectivity, scanners, IoT devices, and plant applications where business, supplier, network, firewall, and server teams may all be involved.
  • Support meeting room technologies such as Poly, Logitech, Barco, Teams Rooms, Poly Lens, firmware updates, network checks, and vendor coordination.
  • Maintain and improve documentation, including IP documentation, troubleshooting procedures, disaster recovery/backup restore notes, and ServiceNow/KB/SharePoint/Confluence knowledge where applicable.
  • Coordinate with business stakeholders, vendors, central IT teams, NPO/service providers, and local plant teams to drive issues to resolution, especially when responsibility is unclear or split across teams.

Job Requirements

  • Broad hands-on IT infrastructure and support experience, preferably covering both end-user support and infrastructure troubleshooting.
  • Strong networking fundamentals: IP, DNS, Wi-Fi, VLAN/trunking, Cisco switching concepts, firewall troubleshooting, and structured OSI-style analysis.
  • Practical Windows/Microsoft knowledge, including Active Directory/ENTRAID, domain concepts, Microsoft 365, SSO/MFA/Conditional Access concepts, and endpoint troubleshooting.
  • Documentation and knowledge-management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively across both remote technical teams and local business operations staff, including calm prioritization during production-impacting incident.
  • Fluent in Dutch and English.

Preferred experience

  • Zebra MC9190 scanner setup/configuration; this can be learned on the job if the candidate has the right troubleshooting foundation.
  • Experience with meeting room technology such as Poly, Logitech, Yealink, Barco, Teams Rooms, and cloud MDM tools such as Poly Lens.
  • Experience with ServiceNow is a plus.
  • Other networking knowledge including SDWAN & SASE is preferred
